How long has your company been in business?

The roots of our company stretch back to 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio. We opened the Minneapolis branch in 1980 and our current owner took over the company in 1994.

What are your normal business hours?

7am to 6pm, Monday through Friday, as well as Saturdays.

Do you provide 24-hour service?

Yes, we offer emergency service 7 days a week.

If I call after hours or on weekends, will my call be answered by a live person?

Yes, we answer the phones at all times. We always have someone on call to handle emergency service calls.

What are your warranty hours?

Our warranty hours are the same as our regular hours.

What about holiday service?

We do offer emergency holiday service.

What’s the longest I’d have to wait for service during your busiest period?

One day.

What’s the longest I’d have to wait for warranty service during your busiest period?

One day. But we’ll always try to be there as quickly as possible.

Do you stock parts on your trucks for heating and cooling?

Yes, our trucks are always stocked and ready to go!

How often are repairs completed in one trip?

We complete 85-90% of our service calls on the first trip. We make it a point to keep you as comfortable as possible.

How can I know that you’ll do a good job?

The HVAC industry fosters this kind of concern, and substandard work is not uncommon – that is why Total Comfort can differentiate from our competitors with our emphasis on quality installations and quality service. We’ve won two national awards for our innovation and quality installations.

How long will it take you to come out and give me an estimate?

We can come out at your convenience. We can be there today if you’d like.

If I purchased new equipment, how long will it take you to get to my job?

If necessary, we can get you up and running on the same day. Typically, you’ll never have to wait longer than 1 day (unless you want to).

Approximately how long will it take you to complete my job?

Each job is different, but we try to make sure we never leave a client without heating or air conditioning overnight.

Do you offer hybrid heating and cooling systems?

We do. A hybrid system is the most energy-efficient and the most “green” solution for your home. It uses electricity and natural gas to maximize your system performance.

Do you recycle all my old equipment and refrigerant?

We do. We actually take any equipment we remove directly to a recycling company.

Do you use your own installation specialists or do you hire subcontractors?

We use only our own installation specialists on all HVAC jobs. We use a licensed electrician on any electrical work that is required that is beyond our capability.

Do you offer any discounts?

We do. Senior citizens receive a 5% discount (up to $100) off any Total Comfort equipment or service!

Are you members of the Better Business Bureau?

We are and we have been for as long as we’ve been in business. We’re members in good standing and we participate in their “Membership Identity Program.”

Besides my equipment warranty, what other guarantees do you provide?

We offer a 1-year buy-back guarantee. If you’re not happy with your new system, and we can’t satisfy you, we’ll remove your new equipment and give you a complete refund for up to one full year.

What brands do you sell? Why?

We sell Trane, Rheem, and Lennox furnaces/air conditioning systems, but like most HVAC companies, we can buy from virtually every manufacturer. However, for the majority of our furnace/air conditioning systems, we recommend Trane. We’ve used them for years under the worst conditions and they’ve never let us down. In our opinion, Trane is also the only true “manufacturer” of equipment. Other companies assemble components made elsewhere. For indoor air quality and specialty equipment, we carry Honeywell, Aprilaire, Desert Springs, Mitsubishi, LifeBreath, Arzel, BreatheClean, and Guardian Air equipment.

Do you use cased evaporator coils, or uncased?

Unless there’s absolutely no way to install it, we always used cased evaporator coils. Ask us why that’s important!

Do you use heat load calculations to determine the correct size for my replacement equipment?

Definitely. Anyone we send to your home will be able to perform an accurate heat load analysis for you. We’ll even provide you with a printout of the results. It’s the only way to provide you with the optimum comfort solution for your home. Every company should offer the same service, but few do.

Can you provide me with a computerized energy analysis to compare my old equipment to new high-efficiency options?

Yes, we can. After performing your heat load, we’ll enter your data into a computer program that will show you a comparison of several systems and the approximate operating costs of each.

Do you offer installed efficiency testing and verification for new high-efficiency equipment or can you guarantee my new high-efficiency equipment will perform at the efficiency level I’m paying for?

Yes, we’re ComfortMaxx certified through the National Comfort Institute – not many companies are. Every component of your system, from your equipment, to your ducts, to your grilles and registers, along with accessory components like air cleaners, humidifiers, etc., affect your system’s real performance, energy use, comfort, and indoor air quality. Our specialists will analyze your system and identify problems in any of these areas that could compromise your system’s efficiency, your comfort, or your health.
